Atheism - assigning you from birth

I felt this was a very fitting post for this section of the forum, although I believe I am treading very dodgey ground by doing so!
So, religion has been in the heart of humanity since the beginning of time. Even when you believe you aren't devoted to a religion, socaity even forces you to choose your faith/believes.
If you go to a work place or school one of the first boxes you tick is your religion. Atheism is even a religion, although most Atheists would strongly deny that they are part with any religious group. So from the minute you are born, at a time with hardly any knowledge, you are still assigned to a religious group.

Now to fit it into this category...is it pure ignorance to shove religion down peoples throats without giving individuals a chance to speak out and say 'I Simpally follow no belief' without having to call themselves stupid names like 'Atheist'? Or maybe I am just getting the wrong end of the stick here in the sence that Atheism isnt a religion and that it is mearly a label to classify people by in the box titled: Religion?
